Wee Nook is a 360 square foot living space with a full kitchen and bathroom. It is tucked underground in the middle of the woods. Please come enjoy the woods, farm animals, trails, pond and wide open space while you're here!
As JRR Tolkien said: “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hold, and that means comfort.”
Wee Nook is a 360 sq foot house with a full kitchen, bath, king bed and sofa. It boasts the most quiet spot on our property, with a lovely pavilion for outdoor sitting in the middle of the woods.
The hobbit hole has a live roof, and several eatable plantings around this space for enjoying in spring and summer months. The fire pit in back allows guests to sit back and listen to nature while enjoying "nature's tv" (a fire).
Guests can enjoy walking the trails around and through the 300+ acre property. As well as visiting the pond for fishing and swimming, the horses and highland cows.
We have a cream and white dog, LeeLoo, that has free range of the property. She will most likely greet you upon your arrival or join you on your walk. She's very sweet and social, she just wants to meet everyone! She will bark.
**There is NO INTERNET OR TV in this space. There is also VERY LITTLE CELL PHONE SERVICE! We recommend bringing books, games, journals or small hobbies. If weather is supposed to be rainy you might consider bringing a computer with movies DOWNLOADED on it. (Or one with dvd capabilities.)
We are 15 miles from Loretta Lynn’s Ranch/ Waverly (west of us), 30 miles from Dickson, Tn (east of us) and an hour from Nashville (east).
Other listings on the property can be found at RockNRefuge.com.
We are located on 300+ acres of Tennessee farm land. Trails through and around the property for hiking. Garden, farm beef and fresh chicken eggs available as the season allows. Pond for swimming and fishing. Beef from our cattle is available for purchase as well, though cuts may be limited.
We love the opportunity to meet our guests if you want/we are able. If not, we tend to leave our guests to enjoy the solitude of the farm.
Please call or text if you need anything or have any questions!
We have three other rentals on the property as well as the headquarters and the main cabin reserved for family visitors. Know that if you stay with us there is a chance you'll run into other visitors or family while accessing the trails or the pond! All guests are welcome to share the pond. Do not hesitate to join in the fun if people are down there.
Directions for Long Rifle Loop Trail: Go back to the main gravel drive you arrived on. Follow the gravel drive to the right. This will lead you past the Honeymoon Cabin, the children's tree fort and to the barn, the farm animals, and the pond and pond dock. From here follow the gravel drive (over the main paved driveway) until you find the trail in the woods again. It will bring you right back to your space. Basically, if you stay on gravel or establish trails then you can’t get lost!
We are a twenty minute drive to Loretta Lynn's Ranch. A half-hour from Dickson (east), twenty minutes from Waverly (west) and an hour outside of Nashville provides guest the option of going to the city for the day.
The power has a habit of going out in inclement weather or strong winds. It doesn’t normally stay out for longer than 2-3 hours. In the country, if the power is out, so is the water. So you will not be able to flush the potty during an outage. We provide candles, flash lights, puzzles and books for your entertainment during the outages. We’re sorry for the inconvenience but if your power is out, so is ours. We feel your pain and frustration.
The closest grocery store is 10 miles away. We suggest going to the store BEFORE you arrive and getting essential food items! We have suggestions for where to shop both locally and regionally listed in the guide book!
THERE IS NO INTERNET ACCESS in this space. There is also NO TV and VERY LITTLE CELL SERVICE! Please plan accordingly!
There is a $40 pet fee added to your stay. ($80 for three or more pet guests.) We also ask that you bring something to cover the furniture if your pup is accustomed to being on the sofa or bed. Pets MUST be up to date on flea and tick medication before you arrive!!! Please read through all the pet rules before your arrival!!
Check in is flexible. We TRY to accomodate early check in when we can ...just ask us if it's doable!
Check out is at 10am unless otherwise discussed with us.
Please feel free to share any photos of your time on our farm to our social media page, Rock 'N Refuge, @rock_n_refuge or #rocknrefuge #weenook
We do have eggs and beef from our farm animals if you'd like to purchase any of those items. (Please note that depending on the time of year eggs may be unavailable and beef may be sparse).
Your first load of firewood is free, but any subsequent load of wood after that will be $10 cash.
